Initial Basic Training (IBT) was introduced in December 2010 and updated on 19 January 2013.This course can only be delivered by RSA-certified IBT instructors and is designed to help learner motorcyclists gain the essential skills and knowledge for safe riding.

Your First Step to Safe Riding

IBT provides the foundation for motorcycling by teaching you how to handle your bike safely, understand road rules, and prepare for real-world riding conditions.

  3. Technical checks 
  4. Placing motorcycle on and off the stands
  5. Walking alongside the motorcycle
  6. How to start and stop the engine including precations for mounting and dismounting
  1. Moving off and stoping (includes on site riding)

  3. Use of gears
  4. Slow riding
  5. Figure of 8 exercise
  6. U-turn exercise
  7. Slalom exercise
